The CFD will be conducting personnel accountability demonstrations
with the Motorola portable radios. The CFD plans to transmit a Mayday
to all portable radios at a fire and to activate the orange button on the top
of our portable radios to allow each member to respond that they are safe.
This method can help reduce the time it takes to conduct Personnel
Accountability Reports (PAR’s) and specify who is in distress.
This program is a work in progress and may change dependent upon
success and member input. In addition, there have been discussions
with the CFD and OEMC concerning digital and analog radios, and
FD800 Trunking channels and zones.
The CFD/OEMC will be switching the primary radios
to a different frequency to rectify the interference
problems that we have been experiencing.
The radio shops will begin this work very soon starting with EMS and
then FS&R. This process will take 3 months and we will be on FD800
Trunking System while these changes are being made.
